Matt Eldred

Head Coach

Matt Eldred grew up in Rocky River and played his youth hockey in the Cleveland area (Rocky River and Cleveland Americans).  In High School, Matt was a 3 year member of the Culver Military Academy (Culver,IN) prep team, where he earned a 4 year athletic scholarship to Bowling Green State University (Division 1 - CCHA- 4 year letter winner).  After his collegiate career, he played professionally (AHL,IHL,ECHL,Europe) as a defenseman and played in 366 games over 5 years.  Following his professional career, Matt was the head coach of the Team Ohio Pre/Post high school team (2003-2005). Over the past four years, he has been a coach with the Strongsville ADM and Barons programs.  Matt’s coaching influences are World Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Jerry York (Boston College), current Boston Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy and former Columbus Blue Jackets/Winnipeg Jets Head Coach Claude Noel.  He has completed his level 4 USA Hockey certification and is in the process of earning USA Hockey’s level 5 certification.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. Currently, Matt is a manager with Boston Scientific (Cardiology Division) and lives in Copley with his wife Christine and two children Katherine and Joseph.
